The University of Central Arkansas’ Division of University & Government Relations is charged with providing information to the general public and various constituents. The division includes media relations, government relations, and web development.
With media relations, our mission is to provide public information upon request as well as to generate media coverage and public relations. We have outstanding faculty, staff and students at UCA and we work to generate information about them through media outlets as well as through social media. We are responsible for providing university news and arranging media coverage of events on campus. We also are responsible for the administration of the university’s official Facebook, YouTube and Twitter accounts. To further the university, we are responsible for promoting our faculty and staff through a Speakers Bureau, which provides experts in various disciplines as sources for media, civic groups, schools and other non-profit organizations.
Government relations are handled out of this division for UCA and that includes representing the university to local, state and federal elected officials and government agencies. The division monitors legislation and other public policy discussions at the state and national level. We work to represent UCA and provide policy makers with the information they need to not only assist UCA but to enhance higher education in Arkansas.
Our award winning Web Development team coordinates the overall Web presence at UCA and works with various offices across the campus with the WordPress content management system. The team provides training and maintains applications, calendars and the emergency website for the campus. They also are active in maintaining the UCA social media platforms.
