Faculty Grants 9/15

The following faculty and staff have recently received grant funding:Nelda New, Department of Nursing, recently received a $500 grant for a pilot project developing and evaluating a co-created diabetes mellitus self-management education intervention. The grant is funded by the Arkansas Community Foundation through the Arkansas Nurses Foundation.

Tina Mankey, Department of Occupational Therapy, recently received an $8,294 grant for the Burdick Program for Rural Interdisciplinary Training. The project is designed to improve access to health services for individuals living in rural southeast Arkansas through an interdisciplinary training program that enhances recruitment and retention of health professionals. The grant is funded by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services through the Health, Resources and Services Administration and UAMS.

Carolyn Williams, Collge of Education, recently received a $97,850 grant for a mathematics and science partnership program. The grant is funded by the U.S. Department of Education through the Arkansas Department of Education.

Lauretta Koenigseder, Department of Nursing, recently received a $5,588 grant for scholarships for disadvantaged students. The grant is funded by the Department of Health and Human Services.

Chris Bentley, UCA Police Department, recently received a $4,309 grant for the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant. The grant will provide a software system for a new video security system. The grant is funded by the U.S. Department of Justice through the Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration.

Kathleen Atkins, Mark Cooper and Patty Kohler-Evans, College of Education, recently received a $10,000 grant for a project called Inclusive Educational Practices. The grant is funded by the Arkansas Department of Education.

Gary McCullough, Department of Speech-Language Pathology, recently received a $51,191 grant for real-time Internet evaluation of oropharyngeal swallowing function. The grant is funded by the NIH through the National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders and the University of Illinois.

Sharon Ross, Department of Speech-Language Pathology, recently received a $1,000 grant for a project titled ?Training SLP-A Sites.? The grant is funded by the Arkansas Board of Examiners in Speech Pathology and Audiology.

Belinda Robertson, Arkansas Center for Mathematics and Science Education, recently received a $74,850 grant for a secondary mathematics specialist. The grant is funded by the Arkansas Department of Education.
