ACS CHAPTER RECOGNIZED WITH OUTSTANDING AWARD

The American Chemical Society (ACS) at the University of Central Arkansas has been selected to receive an Outstanding award based on the chapter’s activities during the 2018-19 academic year.

Of the more than 1,000 chapters nationwide, the UCA chapter was one of 59 chapters selected for the Outstanding award. This is the sixth recognition in seven years. The chapter will be honored at the ACS National Meeting & Expo in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in March.

The Department of Chemistry was notified of the award by Bonnie Charpentier, ACS president.

“We extend our warmest congratulations to the students and [professors] for setting such a fine example for other chapters and being exemplary chemistry ambassadors,” Charpentier said in a letter to the department.

Gregory Naumiec, assistant professor, and Faith Yarberry, lecturer II, are faculty advisers for the group.
