What’s Happening
UCA is in the process of evaluating learning management systems to ensure we select the platform that best serves our faculty, students, and educational mission. We are conducting a comprehensive evaluation of potential learning management systems to replace Blackboard Learn. This process involves careful assessment of various LMS options, gathering feedback from our community, and making an informed decision that supports our educational goals.
Why We’re Reviewing LMS Options
- The University’s contract with Blackboard Learn is ending in June 2026.
- Blackboard is nearing ending support for our current product and configuration.
- New and innovative educational technologies are increasingly available.
- Students and faculty have requested a better experience for mobile use.
- The University aims to improve accessibility and user experience.
- New faculty recruits expect the latest instructional technology to be available.
Key Timeline
- PHASE 1 (September 2024 – February 2025): Research and initial evaluation of LMS options
