Join your colleagues TODAY (September 17) for this week’s Faculty for Successful Students Lunch and Learn as we explore how to clarify performance expectations and help students succeed. Hosted by CETAL and Student Success Services, this session will focus on how setting clear guidelines can reduce confusion, alleviate anxiety, and lead to better academic outcomes.
Key topics for discussion include:
– Reviewing your syllabus and effective LMS use to ensure students understand expectations.
– Reaching out to students who have missed assignments and helping them create a plan to get back on track.
– Addressing any hidden curriculum issues—like note-taking strategies or how to prepare for class discussions—that students may be missing.
– Leveraging rubrics (and Blackboard’s rubric tool) to clearly communicate what successful performance looks like and encourage students to self-assess their work before submission.
Take advantage of this opportunity to connect with colleagues, share ideas, and expand your teaching strategies! For registration and resources, visit the Faculty for Successful Students page. We look forward to seeing you there!
