Dr. Seungyeon Lee, Associate Professor of Psychology & Counseling, has been invited to present a plenary session at the 60th Annual Meeting of the National Association of Schools of Theatre (NAST), which will take place March 19–22, 2025, in Chicago, Illinois.

Dr. Lee will lead a session titled: “Supporting Faculty and Administration in the Face of Compassion Fatigue” 📅 March 20, 2025 | ⏰ 1:45–2:15 p.m.

This important session will explore the growing challenges of compassion fatigue among faculty and administrators in higher education. Dr. Lee will discuss the distinctions between burnout and compassion fatigue, highlighting effective strategies for supporting faculty well-being in the face of increasing emotional demands.

NAST’s invitation recognizes her expertise in faculty mentorship, educational psychology, and student engagement, as well as her dedication to advancing mental health awareness and institutional well-being in academia.

Dr. Kristina Ray, Dr. Christina Jeffrey, Kathryn Armstrong, and Lawrence Watkins’ article,
“Black American college student perspectives on disproportionate police contact: A qualitative analysis”, has been accepted for publication by The Counseling Psychologist. This two-phase CQR study involved consensual coding of 15 interviews with Black American students on their perspectives about police violence, systemic racial oppression, disproportionate police contact; resulting coping skills and survival strategies; and implications and ideas for action for psychologists, advocates, researchers, and educators. This has been a huge passion project for our team and we are really excited to share the themes from the study!

Griffin Planetarium shows this Friday February 7 and Saturday February 8 at 7:00pm: The one-hour shows this week include a tour of the current sky, a flight around the universe, and the full-dome movie “River of Bears” which visits the Grizzly Bears of the McNeil River State Game Sanctuary. The planetarium is located in the Conway Corporation Center for the Sciences. Seating starts 10 minutes before show time. Admission is free. Seating limited to the first 94. No admission after the shows begin. No food or drink allowed.

The HealthCheck360 team will be doing a demo for the new app and website, myHC360+, on February 10th, 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm.
