Call for Survey Participation: Faculty-Led Programs & Destination Interest

As part of our ongoing efforts to provide enriching educational experiences for our students, we are exploring new destinations and opportunities for faculty-led study abroad programs. Your expertise and interests are invaluable in shaping these programs.

The linked survey aims to understand your preferences and willingness to lead study abroad programs, as well as identify destinations that align with your academic and professional interests. Your feedback will help us design programs that are both academically rigorous and culturally immersive.

Bear CLAWS nominations

President Houston Davis recognizes outstanding students as Bear CLAWS award recipients during Board of Trustees meetings, and we need your assistance. The October Board of Trustees meeting is October 4. If you know of students or student groups who should be considered for this designation, please nominate them by completing the Bear CLAWS submission form.

 

Faculty Grants Committee – Applications Fall 2024

Each fall and spring semester, the Foundation awards grants to faculty to support events or activities that enhance learning opportunities at UCA. These grants are intended to encourage creative endeavors that may serve as “seeds” for future programs or support innovative activities that enhance the reputation of UCA. The request for proposals will be valid through academic year 2025-2026. Completed applications must be submitted no later than October 11, 2024. Award decisions will be made no later than October 25, 2024 by a committee appointed by the UCA Foundation. Completed applications, as well as letters of support from the applicant’s Dean and Department Chair, should be submitted through the online application.

Boosting Student Success: Strategies, Lunch & Learns, and More!

In collaboration with Student Success Services, the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Academic Leadership (CETAL) launches an eight-week campaign to equip faculty with simple strategies to promote student success, particularly among first-year students. Starting this week, we will share faculty strategies to support student behaviors that foster student success via weekly Inform messages and subscribed emails.

Further, we invite you to participate in a weekly Lunch & Learn each Tuesday (beginning September 3rd) to brainstorm ideas to support students and learn from colleagues within various disciplines.

CETAL has also developed a companion webpage to support your efforts to encourage students in the behaviors that create habits that promote students’ ongoing academic success, including a slide deck with strategies for you to share at the beginning of each class period to reinforce these success-promoting behaviors.

We encourage you to take full advantage of these resources and opportunities to make a significant impact on our students’ academic journey. By actively participating in the Lunch & Learn sessions, utilizing the Faculty for Successful Students webpage, and subscribing to the weekly email series, you can help reinforce the habits that lead to lasting student success!

Volunteer Fair Scheduled for September 3rd from 1-3pm

Visit UCA’s Volunteer Fair on Tuesday, September 3rd from 1-3pm on the Ronnie Williams Student Center Lawn (rain or extreme heat location: RWSC Ballroom) to meet representatives from over 40 nonprofits throughout Conway and Central Arkansas and learn how you and your students can get involved and connected in your community through volunteering! Service-oriented RSOs are also invited to attend as vendors to share their volunteer opportunities with students. Questions? SEW Closet NOW OPEN!

The Student Everyday Wear (SEW) Closet is NOW open! It is located in Bernard Hall 205. Students can now access this resource when in need of casual, everyday clothing. It is open Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. A special thank you to the many faculty and staff who made this student resource a reality. Please let your students know it is available to them at no charge.
