Angela Adams received her BA in Social Sciences from Harding University in 1999 and her MA in history from the University of Tulsa in 2001. She focused on US History with a minor in Military History. Before coming to UCA, she taught public and private secondary school for 21 years in Kansas and Arkansas and was an adjunct at Harding University between teaching Political Science and American History. She has also taught Citizenship classes at El Puente Hispanic Service center. In 2022 Angela accepted a joint appointment at UCA. She is the state coordinator for National History Day in Arkansas and teaches in the History Department’s BSE program, which trains future social studies teachers.
Angela was chosen for the best presentation at Arkansas Association of College History Teachers annual conference in 2023 and was appointed to the Executive council of National History Day in 2024. Angela has made over 100 visits to schools across the state and led over 20 Teacher Workshops in her time at UCA. This has led to Arkansas History Day growing by over one hundred and fifty percent over her tenure. Angela also secured a Sturgis Grant to help make History Day Materials for all and a Teaching with Primary Sources Grant in partnership with the Region 8 History Day Coordinator to expand the Teaching for Primary Sources in Rural and underserved areas of the state. Angela is currently serving on the Arkansas 250 State commission for Education.
