Internships

Because practical experience is a major component of the CSPA program, students are required to complete an internship. The purpose of the internship is to expand students’ knowledge and understanding of student affairs and their chosen concentration; gain hands-on experience in a professional, student affairs setting; and meet and network with nationally-known experts and professionals in student affairs and higher education. CSPA students have regularly been awarded ACUHO-I, NODA, and NACA internships in locations all across the country.

An important part of the internship experience is the Internship seminar facilitated by the program faculty. The purpose of the seminar is to offer students an opportunity to discuss and share learning insights related to their job assignment. In addition, the seminar can be used as a workshop setting to provide students the opportunity to develop other professional skills. Students will be required to complete 240 contact hours of on-site supervised work
