UCA alumni showcase senior citizens film series
At the 2016 International Convention, Logan Drake Hirsch was recognized with the Robertson Most Outstanding Undergraduate Award. The Robertson Award honors Pi Kappa Alpha’s outstanding graduating senior.
Logan was selected as the University of Central Arkansas department of nursing undergraduate outstanding student, recipient of the Dr. Lauretta Koenigseder nursing scholarship award, Outstanding Greek Man, and graduated summa cum laude in April 2016.
Hirsh has donated countless hours of community service supporting a variety of causes including Top Soccer, Bear Essentials Food Pantry, Mothers Against Drunk Driving, Special Olympics, Susan G. Komen Race For The Cure, Walk-A-Mile In Her Shoes, and the American Red Cross.
Hirsch was inducted into the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, Order of Omega Honor Society, Alpha Chi National Collegiate Honor Society and Alpha Lambda Delta National Academic Honor Society. Additionally, he was selected for the department of nursing honors program at UCA. In 2016, he was recognized as a “Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges.” He was named a Central Arkansas Presidential Scholar seven semesters for achieving a 4.0 GPA.
Fraternally, Hirsch served Epsilon Phi Chapter in numerous leadership positions, including president, internal vice president, and new member educator. He also served on the University’s Interfraternity Council. The chapter recognized him twice with the Distinguished PIKE Award for his service and achievements. Internationally, Logan is PIKE University Certified at the Gold Level.
Logan is currently working as a registered nurse in the cardiovascular intensive care unit at Baptist Health Medical Center-Little Rock, with future plans to pursue a doctorate of nurse anesthesia practice degree and a certified registered nurse anesthetist accreditation.
The Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity is proud to honor Logan Hirsch with the 2016 Robertson Most Outstanding Undergraduate Award.

Karrie Butler, ATC, a 2016 graduate of the UCA Athletic Training program, has received three post-baccalaureate scholarships.
In addition to the National Athletic Trainers’ Association Gail Weldon Memorial Scholarship, Butler received the Southwest Athletic Trainers’ Association Texas Health Ben Hogan Sports Medicine Graduate Scholarship and the Arkansas Athletic Trainers’ Association Jack Van Schilden Graduate Scholarship.
Butler is working with a football team in Prague, Czechoslovakia this summer (pictured below), and will attend graduate school in Colorado in the fall.
The College of Education held the first Mobile Learning Initiative Launch event to on Tuesday, August 16.
At this event, students who will be participating in the new 1:1 iPad initiative in upper level College of Education courses received their iPads and learned how they will be able to transform the classroom through mobile technology.
There were be three launches to accommodate students during Welcome Week and each event started at 9:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.
There was also an additional launch on Thursday, August 18 during x-period.
