M97-02 – UCA DEPRESSION ERA CONSTRUCTION COLLECTION

This collection consists of 8 boxes and contains the records of the R.F.C. And the P.W.A. construction projects on the Arkansas State Teachers College campus during the depression years of the 1930’s. H. L. McAlister, President of ASTC from 1930-1941, started the procedures necessary to obtain financing for a new girl’s dormitory on the campus. This building was named Mc Alister Hall in honor of H.L. McAlister. Numerous other building projects followed in the following years. Some of these building s were Wingo Hall, Bernard Hall, Commons, Ida Waldren Auditorium, Physical Education Building, Presidents Home. Other projects included utility tunnels, sidewalks, playgrounds, physical plant, and hospital.
