Opportunities

It’s important to be involved!

UCA Theatre Program offers many opportunities for students to not only be active in the program, but to gain real world experience as leaders in a theatrical production.

Here are the requirements and applications to do that!

Design

Designing productions gives students the opportunity to work with the production director and technical director to create an artistic vision. Students are allowed to design in the following areas: scenic, costume, lighting, sound, properties, and makeup. Design Application Applications are due Thursday, April 6, 2017. Interviews will be conducted on Wednesday, April 26, 2017, at 3 p.m. in SFA 217 for the 2017-2018 academic year.

Dramaturgy

Dramaturgy provides students with a strong background in history, critical theory, and creativity. This teaches students the importance of research in theatre and how to transform that information by interrogating it into a performance. Dramaturgy Application Applications are due Thursday, April 6, 2017. Interviews will be conducted on Wednesday, April 26, 2017, at 3 p.m. in SFA 217 for the 2017-2018 academic year.

Stage Management

Stage managers play a vital role as the liaison between the director, cast, crew, house manager, faculty, and staff for each  productions. These students are tasked with the responsibility of communication, organization, and time management. Stage Management Application Applications are due Thursday, April 6, 2017. Interviews will be conducted on Wednesday, April 26, 2017, at 3 p.m. in SFA 217 for the 2017-2018 academic year.

Student Directed Production

The purpose of the Student Directed Production is to give students the opportunity to produce their own show from an existing script. The intended scope of this production is considerably smaller than that of a mainstage show. The primary focus is on directing the actors and serving the text. Spectacle should be approached as secondary. Student Production Directing Application & Regulations Applications due on Monday, February 13, 2017, for FALL 2017.

Workshop Production

The purpose of the Workshop Productions is to provide a UCA Theatre major/ minor or faculty/ staff member an environment to present an original work or re-imagining of a work in the public domain. The primary focus should be on directing the actors and serving the text. Spectacle should be approached as secondary. Workshop Production Directing Application Applications due on Wednesday, March 1, 2017, for FALL 2017.
