Readnour Family establishes graduate scholarship

Dr. Harry W. Readnour, along with his sons, Ric and Warren and daughter-in-law, Shari Barnes Readnour, have created the Readnour Family Scholarship Fund through the University of Central Arkansas Foundation.

This fund will provide scholarships for full-time graduate students in the Department of History.

“My dad had a close working relationship with history graduate students over the years,” Warren Readnour noted. “It was important for our family to create this fund as a means of providing financial support for those students.”

Dr. Readnour began his career with UCA in 1971 as a member of the Department of History. He chaired that department from 1987 until he stepped down in June of 1995. Readnour continued teaching until his retirement in 2008. In addition to his teaching and chair responsibilities, Readnour served as the state coordinator of the National History Day Program and was the faculty advisor for the UCA chapter of Phi Alpha Theta, the National History Honor Society. Readnour still resides in Conway.

The UCA Foundation provides privately funded scholarships offering additional opportunities for UCA students. It also annually awards grants to faculty members for programs that enhance learning opportunities at UCA. In 2015, the UCA Foundation awarded $862,950 in private scholarships.
