Foundation & Alumni Association Scholarships

To apply for Foundation and Alumni Association scholarships, complete the online application. Applications are available January 13, 2014; deadline to apply is March 14, 2014. For questions and additional information please call (501) 450-3650.

Foundation Scholarships

  • Kenneth W. Abrams/Paul W. Kimbrough Endowment
    For full-time African-American students with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above majoring in political science or business. Consideration may be given to financial need.
  • ALG (Arkla/Centerpoint) Scholarship
    For children of present and former Arkansas Louisiana Gas (Arkla/CenterPoint) employees. Selection based on academic record and need.
  • D. Richard Arnold/Conway Corporation Scholarship
    For full-time students who graduated from a high school in the city of Conway, Ark. (or, if home schooled, resided in the service area of Conway Corporation at the time of graduation) and have an ACT of 21 or above and high school GPA of 2.75 or above. Consideration may be given to financial need. Children of Conway Corporation Board of Directors are ineligible for consideration.
  • Charles and Nadine Baum Scholarship
    Transfer student criteria: satisfactory completion of 30 hours from another institution and minimum GPA of 3.0. Non-traditional student (age 25 or above) criteria: satisfactory completion of 12 hours & minimum GPA of 3.0.
  • Elizabeth Bailey Benton Scholarship
    For full-time students who are active members (two year minimum) of Conway First Presbyterian Church.
  • Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Arkansas Scholarship
    For students who are, or have been, active participants in the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Arkansas program and who are in good academic standing. Consideration shall be given to financial need.
  • Herby Branscum Scholarship
    For full-time students from Arkansas with preference given to first-generation college students from Perry or Stone County. Selection based on a minimum high school GPA of 2.5, with preference given to entering freshmen and students receiving no other UCA funded scholarships.
  • Burdick/McAlister Scholarship
    For full-time students majoring in geography or business who are citizens of the United States and who demonstrate financial need. Current student eligibility: 2.75 or above cumulative GPA.
  • Conque Family Scholarship
    For full-time students with demonstrated financial need and GPA of 2.50 or above. First preference given to business majors.
  • Will Counts Journalism Scholarship
    For full-time students majoring in journalism. Requires completion of at least 60 credit hours and cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above; financial need shall be considered.
  • Crow/White Education Fund
    For current recipients, current students and descendants of Crow/White families only. For full-time students with a minimum high school or college GPA of 2.0; financial need may be considered. First preference given to descendants of the John D. and Flora Boyd Crow or William C. and Mary Seay White families. Second preference given to students from Phillips or Faulkner County (Arkansas).
  • James R. and Elizabeth Stout Dailey Scholarship
    For full-time students who demonstrate financial need and who are planning to major in education and teach. Grade point average of 2.5 or above required.
  • H. Fred Dalske Science Student Scholarship
    For full-time junior, senior or graduate students majoring in the sciences at UCA (other than pre-med) with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above and interested in pursuing either an MS or Ph.D. degree.
  • G.A. and Jean Davidson Scholarship
    For full-time student from Jacksonville High School who plans to teach and is planning to major in Early Childhood Education or Business Education. Selection based on ACT score of 26 or above and a minimum high school GPA of 3.0 or above. Leadership and participation activities should also be considered.
  • Dixie Band Camp Scholarship
    For full-time students who are members of the UCA band and have attended the Dixie Band Camp. Preference may be given to music majors. Financial need may be considered.
  • Graydon and Bonnie Bearden Dodson Scholarship
    For sophomores with a GPA of 3.25 or above who demonstrate strong financial need and who completed the requirements from an Arkansas high school.
  • Dollars for Scholars Scholarship
    For full-time students. Selection shall be based on financial need and academic performance (2.75 or above GPA).
  • Donor Club Scholarship
    For full-time students. Selection shall be based on financial need and academic performance (GPA of 3.0 or above).
  • Jimmy and Cleda Driftwood Scholarship
    For full-time students who demonstrate financial need. Preference (in descending order) given to the following majors: music, poetry or history.
  • Fay Dean Dunevant Scholarship
    For full-time female African-American students who are residents of Faulkner County and majoring within the College of Fine Arts and Communications. The recipient shall be an active member of their church with preference given to a student involved in the church's music program. Selection shall be based on financial need and cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.
  • Joe C. Finnell Physical Therapy Scholarship
    For second or third year physical therapy students. Selection based on need, academic performance, cooperation and potential.
  • Foundation General Scholarship
    For full-time students. Selection shall be based on financial need and academic performance (GPA of 2.75 or above).
  • Betty Sue Cowger George Scholarship
    For students from Yell County (Arkansas). Preference given to music majors; consideration shall be given to financial need.
  • Madeline Ann Grubbs Scholarship
    For physical therapy students in good academic standing who are entering the third year doctoral program. Selection based on financial need and demonstrated service/leadership/cooperation.
  • Judge W.M. Harper and Sarah “Sally” Reynolds Harper Scholarship
    For full-time students. Selection shall be based on financial need and academic performance.
  • Harvey/Mitchell-First Presbyterian Church Scholarship
    Selection based on academic performance (GPA of 3.0 or above), financial need, and activity in the worship and work of a Christian congregation. Preference shall be given to qualifying applicants who are members of First Presbyterian Church of Conway.
  • Virginia Lovell Hightower Scholarship
    For full-time students. Selection shall be based on financial need and academic performance (2.75 or above GPA).
  • Angela French Hoffmans Memorial Scholarship
    For students in good academic standing who are majoring in Education at UCA and who graduated from Bryant (Ark.) High School.
  • Holloway/Hicks Scholarship
    For full-time entering freshmen, with first preference given to African-American students from Monroe County. Selection based on high school GPA of 2.75 or above and financial need.
  • Rosamond Hughes Memorial Scholarship
    For full-time students who plan to major in education and teach. Selection shall be based on financial need and GPA of 2.5 or above.
  • Gini Ingram Scholarship
    For full-time students enrolled in both choir & band ensembles, with first preference given to non-music majors (students majoring or minoring in music are also encouraged to apply).
  • Charles and LuRene Jolly Scholarship
    For full-time graduate students (first preference) or undergraduate junior or senior students who are majoring in mathematics education and who plan to teach in Arkansas. Must be a legal citizen of the United States with preference given to Arkansas residents. Selection also based on financial need and cumulative GPA of 3.25 or above.
  • Carroll D. Jones Scholarship
    For full-time students with GPA of 2.5 or above. Selection based on need and academic performance.
  • John and Rebecca Lusk Scholarship
    For a full-time student from Union County with an ACT of 24 or above and high school GPA of 2.75 or above. Consideration may be given to need.
  • Aaron B. Mackey Scholarship
    For a full-time African-American student who has been accepted into the athletic program or communications program at UCA. Cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above and an ACT Score of 18 or higher. Consideration may be given to financial need.
  • Joseph Norman Manley Scholarship
    For African-American full-time students with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above. Consideration may be given to financial need.
    Robert M. McLauchlin Graduate Education Memorial Scholarship
    For students who are United States citizens and are enrolled in a graduate program at UCA. Preference given to Arkansas residents. Selection based on academic performance, school and community involvement, and financial need.
  • Xzin McNeal Endowed Scholarship
    For a full-time student enrolled in the College of Math and Sciences. Selection based on financial need and GPA of 2.5 or above.
  • Thomas M. Meadows Scholarship
    For students majoring in physical therapy with a GPA of 2.75 or above. Consideration shall be given to financial need.
  • Memorial Endowment Scholarship
    For full-time students. Selection may be based on financial need and academic performance (2.75 or above GPA).
  • Bill and Joyce Miller Scholarship
    For full-time students with preference given to students who have been a member of the Boys and Girls Club of their respective community. Second preference given to students pursuing a degree in the College of Liberal Arts. Requires an ACT score of 24 or above and a minimum high school cumulative GPA of 2.75 or above. Consideration may be given to financial need.
  • Paul and Kimberly Moore Scholarship
    For students with financial need and GPA of 2.5 or above. First preference given to First Presbyterian Church of Conway members and Conway Cradle Care participants.
  • Sheffield Nelson/Arkansas Community Foundation Scholarship
    For full-time students. Selection may be based on financial need, academic performance (2.75 or above GPA) and leadership.
  • Robin Nix Scholarship
    For full-time students who are members of one of the following at UCA: tennis team or band. Financial need may be considered.
  • Miss Eugenia M. Oliver Memorial Scholarship
    For full-time junior or senior female students under the age of 23 with 60 hours completed at UCA. Preference given to St. Francis County graduates. Selection shall be based on financial need, potential and academic performance.
  • W. E. and Irene K. Pennington Scholarship
    For full-time students with a GPA of 2.75 or above. Selection may be based on financial need and academic performance.
  • Fred and Lillian Petrucelli Scholarship
    For full-time students majoring in writing, journalism or theatre. Selection shall be based on financial need, potential and academic performance (GPA of 2.75 or above).
  • Phi Lambda Chi/Casey Keck Scholarship
    For full-time undergraduate students with GPA of 2.5 or above. Preference given to Phi Lambda Chi’s. Selection based on academic performance, activities and financial need.
  • Emmett and Judieth Preuitt Scholarship
    For students pursuing a course of study in the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics. Requires ACT of 24 or above and high school GPA of 3.0 or above; consideration may be given to financial need.
  • Marie and Walter Schaffhauser Scholarship
    For full-time student who graduated from a Phillips County high school, with preference given to graduates of Marvel Academy.
  • James W. and Peggy Schneider Scholarship
    For full-time students. Selection may be based on financial need and academic performance (2.75 or above GPA).
  • Jack Staggs Scholarship
    For full-time students majoring in mathematics who plan to teach. Minimum ACT of 24 and high school GPA of 2.75 or above. Consideration may be given to financial need.
  • Pam Snider Memorial Scholarship
    For female, full-time junior, senior or graduate students with financial need and GPA of 2.50 or above. Preference (in descending order) given to the following: students of American Indian descent, elementary education majors, or psychology/counseling majors.
  • Dr. Betty Swift Scholarship
    For female full-time students who are Arkansas residents and are seeking a
    degree within the Department of Kinesiology and Physical Education. Requires
    GPA of 2.5 or above.
  • Templeton Scholarship
    For a full-time student with a minimum GPA of 3.0 or above. Consideration shall be given to financial need.
  • John and Betty Ward ScholarshipFor full-time students majoring in journalism. Requires completion of 60 credit
    hours and cumulative GPA of 2.75 or above. Selection shall be based on financial need, potential and academic performance.
  • Maurice Webb Scholarship
    For a full-time undergraduate student who has completed 30 hours or more and has declared a major in history or education. Consideration shall be given to financial need.
  • Eugene and Hazel Weir Educational TrustFor full-time students with preference given to Pope County graduates. Selection shall be based on financial need.
  • Farris W. and Ann Brandon Womack Scholarship
    For Arkansas residents from one of the following counties: Calhoun, Cleburne or Dallas. Requires ACT of 24 or above and high school GPA of 2.75 or above; consideration may be given to financial need.

Alumni Association Scholarships

All Scholarships require a 250 word essay. In the essay, explain why you need scholarship assistance, why you chose your field of study, and what profession you plan to pursue after graduation.
This excludes the African American, Alumni General, and UCA License Plate Scholarships.

  • Hank Adams Scholarship
    For full-time undergraduate students who are a U.S. citizen and in good academic standing. Must have completed at least 12 hours at UCA and be a legal Arkansas resident or the child/grandchild of a former UCA student or UCA graduate. Selection based on financial need, academic performance, and submitted essay.
  • African American Scholarship
    For full-time undergraduate students with a minimum ACT score of 21 and a GPA of 2.5 or above. First preference given to an African-American resident and recent high school graduate of Ashley, Drew, Union, Desha, Phillips, Chicot, St. Francis or Jefferson County. Selection based on financial need, academic performance, and 250 word essay explaining what impact the recipient will have on the African-American culture at UCA.
  • Alumni General Scholarship and Endowment
    For full-time undergraduate students with at least 60 credit hours completed at UCA and cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above. Selection based on financial need and 250 word essay explaining why you chose your field of study and what leadership and/or academic services you have demonstrated at UCA. A recommendation letter from a UCA staff or faculty member must be submitted attesting to your leadership and/or academic services to UCA.
  • Marvin Bishop Memorial Scholarship
    For full-time students who are Arkansas residents with first preference given to Cherokee descendants. Requires a cumulative GPA of 2.50 or above and completion of 60 credit hours at UCA. Selection based on academic performance, financial need, and submitted essay.
  • Harvey A. Buffalo Scholarship
    For full-time undergraduate student with at least 12 credit hours completed at UCA and cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above. Selection based on financial need, academic performance, and submitted essay.
  • David and Laura Grimes Scholarship Fund
    For full-time students with first preference given to descendants of David and Laura Grimes and siblings. Second preference is given to graduates of Conway Public Schools or Springdale Public Schools. Requires a GPA of 2.5 or above. Selection based on academic performance, financial need, and submitted essay.
  • B.A. Lewis Graduate Scholarships
    For full-time students who have sufficient credit toward a bachelor’s degree at UCA and have been accepted into UCA graduate school or students who have completed at least 6 graduate hours at UCA with a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or above. Selection based on academic performance and submitted essay.
  • Dorothy Long Scholarship
    For full-time students who are majoring in mathematics or within the College of Natural Sciences & Mathematics. Requires cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above and completion of 60 credit hours at UCA. Selection based on academic performance and submitted essay.
  • H.L. Minton Scholarship
    For full-time undergraduate students who are U.S. citizens and who have completed at least 60 credit hours at UCA. Must be a legal Arkansas resident or the child/grandchild of a former UCA student or UCA graduate. Selection based on financial need, academic performance, and submitted essay.
  • John C. Rohweder Scholarship Fund
    For a full-time undergraduate student who has completed 30 credit hours with a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or above. First preference given to non-traditional students majoring in writing or pursuing a degree within the College of Fine Arts and Communication. Selection based on financial need and submitted essay.
  • Silas and Mary Snow Scholarship
    For full-time undergraduate students who are U.S. citizens and who have completed at least 60 credit hours at UCA with a cumulative GPA of 3.75 or above. Must be a legal Arkansas resident or the child/grandchild of a former UCA student or UCA graduate. Selection based on academic performance and submitted essay.
  • Sullards Family Scholarship Fund
    For full-time students who have completed 60 credit hours; 30 of those hours must have been completed in the UCA College of Education. Must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above and be a child/ grandchild of a parent and/or grandparent of a UCA graduate. Selection based on financial need and submitted essay.
  • UCA License Plate Program Scholarship
    For full-time undergraduate students who are the child/grandchild of a UCA graduate and who have completed at least 60 credit hours at UCA with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above. Selection based on academic performance and 250 word essay explaining why you chose your field of study and what leadership and/or academic services you have demonstrated at UCA. A recommendation letter from a UCA staff or faculty member must be submitted attesting to your leadership and/or academic services to UCA.
  • Dr. Joe and Charlene Walthall Scholarship Fund
    For full-time students pursuing a degree in Special Education or Early Childhood Education. Requires a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above and completion of 60 credit hours. Selection based on academic performance and submitted essay.

    For senior nursing students from an underrepresented minority in the profession (racial, ethnic and/or gender minority). Student must be in good academic standing. Unlicensed and articulating RN and LPNs are eligible.
  • Clara Forsberg Nursing Scholarship
    For full-time undergraduate junior or senior students in the nursing curriculum. Requires cumulative GPA of 3.30 or above, demonstration of professional characteristics, and good academic standing in the Department of Nursing. Preference may be given to students receiving no other UCA funded scholarships.
  • Suzanne Harvey Nursing Graduate Scholarship
    For graduate nursing students.
  • Hawk-McCaslin Scholarship
    For nursing students in the master’s program. Consideration shall be given to financial need.

    • Lilly Harmon Staff Senate Scholarship
      One Lilly Harmon Staff Senate Scholarship will be awarded by the UCA Staff Senate to assist a full-time staff employee in pursuing a degree at UCA.     • Staff Senate Employee Scholarship

    • Staff Senate Scholarship for Dependents of UCA Staff
      One scholarship is awarded for dependents of full-time UCA staff employees who meet the eligibility criteria for the staff fee waiver as outlined in the staff handbook and are pursuing a degree at the University of Central Arkansas. The student must be in good standing academically and must have completed at least 30 hours of college credit with a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.5.
