CDI 2017 Scholarships

CDI 2017 scholarships are now available! This year’s 31st annual Institute has many scholarship opportunities participants in need can apply for. There is a general scholarship application that can be found here and a three year scholarship specifically for clergy in Arkansas from any faith background here. General Scholarship Application

The CDI 2017 general scholarship application is open to any current or potential CDI participant. Many of our dedicated supporters offer scholarships through the CDI 2017 general scholarship application, such as: the Arkansas Community Development Society (ACDS Scholarship), the CDI 2016 Year 3 Class (Pay It Forward Scholarship), CDI founder Bill Miller and the UCA President’s Office.

Applications will be scored based on the following criteria:

  • Demonstrates clear community and professional need
  • Demonstrates merit and need for financial assistance
  • Demonstrates opportunity to apply what is learned at CDI into work in their community on a regular and sustainable basis
  • Reasons for wanting to attend CDI are clear and relevant to CDI objectives
  • Applicant’s organization and role in community appear consistent with Community Development principles of good practice (see below).
    • Promote active and representative participation toward enabling all community members to meaningfully influence the decisions that affect their lives.
    • Engage community members in learning about and understanding community issues, and the economic, social, environmental, political, psychological, and other impacts associated with alternative courses of action.
    • Incorporate the diverse interests and cultures of the community in the community development process; and disengage from support of any effort that is likely to adversely affect the disadvantaged members of a community.
    • Work actively to enhance the leadership capacity of community members, leaders, and groups within the community.
    • Be open to using the full range of action strategies to work toward the long-term sustainability and well-being of the community.

Interfaith Arkansas Scholarship Application

The Interfaith Arkansas Scholarship is intended to empower a clergy person to learn community development skills they will utilize to empower their community.  The scholarship is intended to cover all three years of CDI.  It is intended primarily for clergy, but all people from the faith community are encouraged to apply.
