VARGHESE RECOGNIZED AS FELLOW BY APA

Femina Varghese

Femina Varghese, professor of psychology, was elected to fellow status by the American Psychological Association (APA) in August.

Fellow status is an honor bestowed upon APA members who have shown evidence of unusual and outstanding contributions or performance in the field of psychology. Fellow status requires that a person’s work has had a national impact on the field of psychology beyond a local, state or regional level.

“It is a wonderful feeling when others also attest to the value of your contributions to the field,” she said. “It is a recognition and honor.”

In making the announcement, the APA stated that this significant recognition attests to Varghese’s “outstanding contribution in the field of psychology,” by which “the public is better served.”
