Five University of Central Arkansas students are featured in Arkansas PBS’ “You Decide” social media series exploring the experiences of first-time voters.

In collaboration with UCA Vote Everywhere and the UCA Student Government Association, the “You Decide” civics education campaign focuses on students Layla Holloway, Ron Latina, Samantha Meidell, Jacob Mitchell and Ryan Taneja. The series of digital shorts launched on Instagram (@arkansas_pbs) and Facebook (@arkansaspbs) Oct. 21 and highlights topics such as the importance of voting, how to stay informed about the election and how to encourage friends to vote.

“Right now, our votes are so important because of all that we see going on right now with the pandemic and the protests,” Holloway states in the shorts.

Producers will spotlight the experiences of these students as they continue  their voting journey through Nov. 13 for their post-election reflections. The series will also be a collection of Instagram stories and IGTV videos, as well as Facebook stories and posts. A “You Decide – First-Time Voter” playlist is also available at youtube.com/arkansaspbs.
