Two representatives from the University of Central Arkansas presented at the 12th Annual International Congress of Information Technology Innovation (CIITI) in Buenos Aires, Argentina on October 2. Interim Director of Management Information Systems Dr. Jim Downey presented on “Entrepreneurial Technology Start-ups” and International Communication Manager J.S. Stansel gave a presentation titled “Transforming Noise into Knowledge: The Importance of Digital Literacy in the Social Media Age.”
The conference, hosted by Universidad Abierta Interamericana (UAI) and attended by global leaders in technology, is designed to “present innovations and new knowledge to society, and become a space for the dissemination, promotion, and reflection on the importance of information technology innovation.”
“It is a great honor to have the opportunity not only to attend this conference and learn from innovators from around the world, but to also be able to represent UCA and share our ideas with the global community,” said Stansel.
Other presentations covered topics such as Applied Robotics, Social Dynamics, Information Architecture, and Cyber-culture. Presenters included leading technology scholars and business leaders from around the world including officials from Microsoft and Hewlett Packard.
During their visit, Dr. Downey and Mr. Stansel also toured the UAI Center of Information Technology, met with UAI representatives about future student and faculty exchanges, the UCA “Leaders of the World” program series and spoke with students at Galileo Galilei High School about UCA and college life in the United States.
