WHEN: 4:45 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 19, 2015
WHERE: Student Center Amphitheater on the UCA campus
DETAILS: The University of Central Arkansas Division of International Engagement is sponsoring a Candlelight Gathering for Global Peace to provide students, faculty, staff and community members an opportunity to reflect on world events and promote a peaceful society.
The community is invited to take part in the Candlelight Gathering. Each attendee will receive a candle and hand shield.
UCA President Tom Courtway will make a brief statement addressing attendees about the impact of tragedies and conflict and the importance of global citizenship and peace. He will then ask for attendees to join him in a moment of silence.
Six students, faculty and staff will join President Courtway to share stories of hope and overcoming tragedy. After all candles are lit, international musician Eric Vincent will perform a special song. Vincent is visiting UCA from his home in Paris for a performance at Reynolds Performance Hall on Friday, November 20 for the UCA World Languages Club.
President Courtway and others on stage will then say the single word “peace” in their native language and ask the crowd to respond.
The community is invited to this Candlelight Gathering. Parking is available throughout campus. No citations will be issued to visitors attending this event.
