The University of Central Arkansas has announced the hiring of Jon-Stephen Stansel as its digital media specialist.
In this role, which is a part of UCA’s University Relations and Creative Services department, Stansel will manage the school’s primary social media channels, as well as oversee and provide direction for all official social media channels on campus.
“I’m thrilled to be back at UCA and to be able to bring the experiences I’ve gained over the past few years to the university’s social media accounts,” Stansel said. “I’m very eager to bring a strategic and engaging approach to UCA’s social media channels that will better serve the students and community and tell the story of UCA.”
Stansel’s work experience includes serving as social media coordinator for Texas State University and, most recently, the Texas Department of Transportation. Prior to Texas State, Stansel worked at UCA as an Intensive English Program instructor and International Communications Coordinator.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in radio/television production and a master’s in English from Arkansas State University.
As digital media specialist, Stansel said, he will also explore opportunities for UCA to use emerging digital mediums to engage with students and the community.
“I feel that as a university, it is our duty to act as a positive role model for responsible social media use and good digital citizenship in how we manage and operate our social media channels,” he said.
