The University of Central Arkansas has hired Dr. Angela T. Barlow as dean of the Graduate School.
In this role, Barlow will oversee UCA’s 62 graduate degrees and certificates.
“As graduate dean, I see my role as being a supporter of faculty who are providing transformative experiences for their students and an advocate for graduate students who want to influence the world in a positive way,” Barlow said. “My goal is to have UCA be the destination for excellence in graduate education.”
Barlow most recently served as director of the Mathematics and Science Education doctoral program at Middle Tennessee State University. She has held faculty positions at the University of Mississippi and University of West Georgia.
Some of her career highlights include securing $6 million in external funding, primarily in support of advancing the instructional practices of elementary and middle school mathematics teachers. Her awards include Outstanding Scholar Award, School of Education, University of Mississippi; Outstanding Grant Writing Award, School of Education, University of Mississippi; and Excellence in Teaching Award, College of Arts and Sciences, University of West Georgia.
She currently serves as the editor for the “NCSM Journal of Mathematics Education Leadership” and on the editorial panel for the “Mathematics Teacher Educator.”
Barlow earned a Bachelor of Science in mathematics education, Master of Education in mathematics education, Master of Applied Mathematics and Doctor of Philosophy in mathematics education from Auburn University.
