University of Central Arkansas alumnus Tyler Rodgers has been elected as the new president of the UCA Alumni Association Board of Directors.
Rodgers, who earned a bachelor’s degree in insurance and risk management from UCA’s College of Business in 2014, will serve as president of the board for the 2022-23 school year. He served as vice president during the 2021-22 term and was secretary/treasurer during the 2020-21 school year.
“After graduating in 2014, serving on the alumni board was an obvious next step and I am honored to now serve as president,” Rodgers said. “The opportunities I was afforded during my time at UCA demanded that I give back. I am fully committed to encouraging alumni participation and welcome feedback on how to best execute this goal.”
Rodgers, who works as an account executive for BB&T/McGriff, has been a member of the UCA Alumni Association Board of Directors since 2016. He had previously served on the UCA Young Alumni Board in 2015 and 2016. As a student at UCA, he was chosen as the Association of Future Alumni Volunteer of the Year in 2013.
He takes the reins from Aaron Knight, a two-time UCA alumnus, who served as the board’s president for the past year.
“My wife and I relocated to my original hometown in northwest Arkansas, which provides a unique opportunity to tap into an under-engaged segment of our alumni population,” Rodgers added. “One of my top priorities while in this role is to further engage the NWA alumni and inspire Bear pride across the state.”
Rodgers will be joined on the board’s executive team by current board members Maria Kramer Wile and Jack Bell. Wile, who will serve as vice president, earned a bachelor’s degree in public relations from UCA in 2014. Bell, who will serve as secretary/treasurer, earned a master’s degree in psychology from UCA in 1977. Both Wile and Bell were initially named to the board of directors in 2020.
“Our executive board is saturated with strong leadership and I am grateful to have their support,” Rodgers said. “I look forward to making the most of my time as president and am excited to see the progress we make this year.”
“Tyler, Maria and Jack have all been wonderful additions to the Alumni Association Board of Directors. Their commitment and dedication to UCA has been evident from day one. I’m excited to continue working with them as they take on these leadership roles,” said Alison Taylor, UCA’s executive director of alumni relations. “I also appreciate the work that Aaron has done on behalf of the university, both in his time on the alumni board and during his term as president.”
Rodgers, Wile and Bell began their new positions on July 1.
