CONWAY — Daughters of a pair of country music legends will bring Grits and Glamour to the University of Central Arkansas’s Donald W. Reynolds Performance Hall as part of UCA Public Appearances.
Pam Tillis and Lorrie Morgan will present “Grits and Glamour” at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 24,
“During the week of homecoming, we like to bring in artists who appeal to alumni who will be back in town for the festivities,” said Amanda Horton, director of UCA Public Appearances. “We have had success with bringing country artists to Reynolds with numerous sold-out shows.”
Tillis is the daughter of Mel Tillis. Morgan is the daughter of Grand Ole Opry legend George Morgan.
“Their fathers were both iconic country music entertainers,” Horton said. “They were raised in the field and were exposed to success at an early age. They learned from these experiences and both had multiple hits, awards and successful careers.”
According to www.gritsandglamour.com, Tillis and Morgan have combined to sell more than 18 million records and have had 28 top 10 hits.
The Grits and Glamour tour, formed in 2009, is known for its good humor and unexpected remarks made through the show.
“We hope that the audience will have a fun-filled time reliving both of the singers’ hit songs,” Horton said.
The two still have solo careers but find time every year to come together for the Grits and Glamour tour.
Tickets, available at the UCA Ticket Central Box Office, are $30-$40 for adults, $27-$37 for senior citizens, $25-$35 for UCA alumni, $23-$33 for UCA faculty and staff, $10 for UCA students with a current student ID and children.
