Dr. Felicia D. Taylor, Department of Health Sciences, received a $2,973 grant from the UCA Foundation for a project titled “Health Education Faith-Based Initiative.” This project focusing on black church populations in Arkansas, will utilize a two-part process which includes conducting a brief pastor?s survey among 20 state churches, and conducting focus groups among three black church congregations in Faulkner and Pulaski counties.
The goals are to build a partnership between an academic institution and faith-based entities; collect baseline needs assessment data through pastoral leadership and church congregational focus groups; and ultimately plan and develop a prototype of small health education participatory groups.
