Scott Roussel was elected chairman of the UCA Board of Trustees for 2004 at the December board meeting Friday.
Roussel, a 1978 graduate of UCA, has been president and owner of SMC Inc., a third-party administrator of insurance products throughout the state. He also is a partner at Roussel, Floyd & Associates, a general insurance agency that has serves Searcy and White County residents.
He has been a member of the Searcy Chamber of Commerce for more than two decades.
“Scott Roussel will be an excellent chairman,” said President Lu Hardin. “He has exemplified a total commitment to the University of Central Arkansas, has a real vision, and a tireless work ethic.”
“I love the University of Central Arkansas and look forward to serving as chairman of the board during this unprecedented period of growth on the campus,” Roussel said.
Gov. Mike Huckabee appointed Roussel to the UCA Board of Trustees in 2001. Roussel replaces Kelley Erstine who was elected chairman of the board in October. Erstine resigned from the board after being named Vice President for Development and Alumni Services at UCA.
Roussel earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the university. As a student, he was a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity and the Interfraternity Council.
He and his wife, Laura, reside in Searcy. They have a daughter, Amanda, who is a junior at Searcy High School, and a son, Blake, who is a sophomore at UCA.
