The University of Central Arkansas Reynolds Performance Hall proudly presents “Remember When Rock was Young: The Elton John Experience” featuring The Rocket Band on Saturday, April 6 at 7:30 p.m.
“Remember When Rock Was Young” is a full-strength stage experience capturing the music, costumes and charisma of Sir Elton John. Starring multiple award-winning, multi-talented singer, actor and pianist Craig A. Meyer.
Meyer has been a fixture in the entertainment industry for many years, making strong impressions in theatre, film, television, and music. He has performed on stage in numerous theatrical roles including Broadway’s Meet Me in St. Louis and touring nationally with “Cats” and Irving Berlin’s “White Christmas.” He also has appeared in several television productions including “Will and Grace” and “General Hospital,” as well as several film credits including “Leatherheads,” “Joyful Noise” and “Identity Thief.” His music career has allowed him to tour internationally and record with music legends Barry Manilow and Frankie Valli.
Throughout his career, he has repeatedly been approached about his striking resemblance to Elton John and his uncanny ability to sound like the rock and roll legend. Meyer was eventually persuaded to expand his repertoire and began impersonating Sir Elton John.
Today, he is considered the best Elton John tribute artist in the market whose strong vocals, striking resemblance and amazing talent on the piano has audiences everywhere remembering when rock was young. This spectacular journey celebrates the decades of chart-topping hits by Sir Elton John, including “Benny and the Jets,” “Philadelphia Freedom,” “Crocodile Rock,” “Candle in the Wind” and more.
Executive Director of UCA Public Appearances Amanda Horton said, “Craig Meyer is such a talented artist who brings all of Elton John’s energy, hit songs, and unique style to the stage. The audience will have the opportunity to sing, dance, and celebrate the music of the iconic Elton John.”
