Welcome Week is just around the corner. Activities kick off Aug. 21 with Move-In Day for freshmen. Volunteers from the UCA and the Conway community will be on hand to welcome and assist new students and their families.
“We want to make moving in as easy as possible for our incoming freshmen. That’s why we will have volunteers at each hall to assist with moving new students into their residence halls,” said Andy Winkelman, new student program coordinator.

Numerous activities are scheduled for Welcome Week to help new students adjust to college life, Winkelman said.
“This year we have a lot of events and programs designed to allow students to meet each other, get plugged in on campus, make the most of their college of experience, and most importantly, to succeed in the classroom,” Winkelman. “By getting plugged into the UCA community, you are able to feel a sense of belonging that will help ease the transition from high school to college. Students who are connected to their university are more likely to stay and ultimately earn their degree.”
New students will have an opportunity to see what the City of Conway has to offer during Conway Daze scheduled for Aug. 25. Vendors will line Bruce Street to share information about their services. Other activities include games and live music. A Recognized Student Organizations Fair will take place during Conway Daze on the practice field. Approximately 75 registered student organizations will participate.

Students arriving on campus this fall will be greeted by faculty and staff wearing purple welcome badges. The badges are a part of the Division of Enrollment Management’s “Welcome Students” initiative, said Larry Burns, director of special projects. These badges, featuring the athletic logo, are meant to provide students with a friendly reminder that UCA staff is here to provide assistance and answer questions.
Several booths will be set up across campus to provide students information about class schedules, classrooms, and to welcome students to campus.
“We see this as a great way to welcome our new students and to let them know that we care about them and their success,” Burns said.
