Anthony McMullen, associate professor of business law at the University of Central Arkansas, was selected for a Golden Gavel award by the Arkansas Bar Foundation and the Arkansas Bar Association.
McMullen, who also is director of forensics in the UCA School of Communication, was honored for his work as chair of the Mock Trial Committee.
The Mock Trial Committee is a committee of the Arkansas Bar Association. The committee is responsible for running the Arkansas High School Mock Trial Competition. McMullen has been a member of the committee since 2005 and served as chair of the committee for the last three years.
“I appreciate the leadership of the Arkansas Bar for the recognition. It is an honor to lead this effort to provide educational opportunities for Arkansas students,” McMullen said.
McMullen began working part-time at UCA in 2007 and became a full-time faculty member in 2011. While working part-time, he helped to restart the UCA Debate and Forensics team after it had been inactive for approximately 15 years. Apart from one semester in 2012, he has been coaching the team since 2007 and was officially named director of forensics in 2012.
