CONWAY—Dr. Doug Voss, associate professor of logistics and supply chain management, will serve on the Arkansas Trucking Association (ATA) Board of Directors.
Voss was elected to the 21-member board during the ATA annual conference. He will serve a one-year, renewable term. He will also continue serving on the 40 Under 40 Council with ATA. In 2010, he was a member of the inaugural class of the council.
“Trucking is filled with good, safety conscious, hard-working men and women,” Voss said. “It is an honor to serve these individuals and one of Arkansas’ most important industries as a member of the ATA Board of Directors.”
Voss also serves as director of the Center for Logistics Education, Advancement, and Research (CLEAR) at the University of Central Arkansas. The CLEAR Center was instituted in 2007 with a three-pronged mission: 1.) Facilitate economic development by educating qualified logistics professionals. 2.) Advance the logistics discipline in Arkansas by raising awareness and participating in industry groups. 3.) Conduct and fund research that will be of mutual benefit to the Arkansas logistics industry, UCA, and other center stakeholders.
Voss earned his doctorate in logistics from Michigan State University and worked in the trucking industry in positions including dispatch, sales, and safety. His research has garnered several prestigious awards from professional and scholarly organizations including the Journal of Operations Management, the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals, and the International Journal of Logistics Management.
The UCA supply chain logistics management program was formally instituted in 2010 and has an enrollment of approximately 40 students. The program focuses on preparing students for positions serving the Arkansas motor carrier industry while also providing a more broad-based logistics and supply chain curriculum.
The ATA promotes the health of the Arkansas trucking industry on issues that have a direct impact on member companies and our state and national economies. The Association is owned and governed by more than 300 trucking companies and important industry suppliers. Members range from firms with 5 or fewer trucks to some of the nation’s largest freight and logistics companies.
