The following presentations, publications and accomplishments were submitted by UCA faculty and staff: Dr. Ken Barnes, Department of History, recently received the Arkansiana Award for non-fiction by the Arkansas Library Association for his book titled, ?Journey of Hope: The Back to Africa Movement in Arkansas in the Late 1800s.? He was honored at a banquet on Oct. 2 held at the Double Tree Hotel in Little Rock, and received a plaque and a check for $1,000.
Dr. Garry Craig Powell, Department of Writing and Speech, had a short story titled, ?Sentence,? accepted for publication in the winter issue of the Canadian literary magazine, The Queen?s Quarterly.
Dr. Jim Guinee, Department of Psychology and Counseling, presented “The Dark Side of Religion” and “Ethics of College Counselors who teach undergraduate classes” at the annual conference of the Southeastern College Counseling Personnel on Oct. 13 in Hot Springs.
Dr. Nancy Reese, Department of Physical Therapy, recently published the second edition of her textbook, entitled ?Muscle and Sensory Testing.? This new edition features a DVD and is published by Elsevier Saunders. The book has been adopted by many physical therapy schools in the United States and other countries including Portugal, Korea, France and Japan.
