Leah Lowe, a third year doctor of physical therapy student at UCA, was recently awarded the prestigious 2006 Mary McMillan Scholarship from the American Physical Therapy Association.
She is the first UCA entry-level physical therapy student to receive such an award from the national association. The Mary McMillan Scholarship Award, named after the founding president of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), is given to top physical therapy students nationally who demonstrate superior scholastic performance, past productivity, evidence of potential contribution to physical therapy, and service to the APTA. Selections are made from 220 physical therapy programs in the nation.
Lowe is one of nine students recognized this year and will be honored at the Honors and Awards Recognition Ceremony at PT 2006: Annual Conference and Exposition of the APTA on June 23 in Orlando, Fla. Lowe completed her undergraduate degree at UCA in 2003 and will graduate with her doctorate degree in August.
