Provost Gabriel Esteban has announced that Dr. Rollin Potter has accepted the position of dean of the College of Fine Arts and Communication at the University of Central Arkansas.
Potter replaces Dr. Robert Everding, who left the university a year ago. Dr. Jonathan Glenn has been acting as interim dean of the college and will remain at the university in other administrative capacities.
“Dr. Potter brings a wealth of experience both in the classroom and as an administrator. He has excellent credentials in the arts that will make him an outstanding dean and an asset to UCA,” said Lu Hardin, president of the university.
Potter comes to UCA from California State University at Sacramento where he is professor of music and the founding director of the School of the Arts.
He has previously served as chair of music departments at The College of New Jersey, in Ewing, N.J., and Southwest State University, in Marshall, Minn. He has served as a team member or chair for accreditation visits of the National Association of Schools of Music, the national agency that accredits music programs around the country. UCA?s music program is accredited by NASM.
Potter earned a doctor of philosophy in music education at Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill. He also holds degrees from VanderCook College of Music and DePaul University, both in Chicago, Ill.
Potter has garnered an impressive list of professional awards, development projects and publications.
Dr. Esteban said, ?We are very happy to have someone of Rollin Potter?s caliber to fill the deanship in Fine Arts and Communication. I look forward to working with him in this capacity, and know that he will provide excellent leadership to the college.?
