More than 450 degrees were conferred during summer commencement held Aug. 13 at the Farris Center.
Tyler Morehart, of Fort Smith, gave the student address before hundreds who gathered for the ceremony. Morehart, who received his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree, told his fellow graduates they are now members of an elite group.
âWe are no longer teacher and student, but colleagues,â he said.

UCA President Allen Meadors challenged graduates to find something they are passionate about; surround themselves with the brightest people; find allies rather than adorers; and to find courage to step outside their comfort zone.
âThere will be a time in your life when in order to succeed you will have to believe in yourself when others may not,â he told the graduates. â⦠UCA has given you the foundation to succeed.â
Meadors encouraged the graduates to maintain the friendships and acquaintances that have nourished over their years at UCA.
âDon’t ever lose them. They will be part of your networking as you get older,â he said. â⦠Never forget those that helped you arrive at this point in your life.â
