The University of Central Arkansas Hispanic Pride Organization will present the award-winning sketch comedy troupe, The Latino Comedy Project, at 7 p.m. on Sunday, April 10 at Ida Waldran Auditorium in Main Hall. The show is free and open to the public.The Latino Comedy Project is a popular, award-winning sketch comedy ensemble sponsored by Texas? premier bilingual theatre company TEATRO HUMANIDAD. Debuting in February 1998, the LCP?s unique brand of satire immediately struck a chord, garnering rave audience response and critical acclaim.
Since 1998, the LCP’s fast-paced, highly polished style of irreverent socio-political/pop culture parody has been an Austin comedy institution for Latino and mainstream audiences alike.
The LCP’s comedy videos have been featured on the PBS 2004 election special “Frame of Mind: Voter’s Revenge”; at the Boston International Latino Film Festival; and on “American Latino TV;” a nationally syndicated program seen in over 50 million households from coast to coast.
Since 1999, the LCP has continued its own successful Annual Austin Latino Comedy Fiesta tradition, showcasing fresh and diverse Latino comedic talent for enthusiastic audiences of thousands.
With an impressive membership of new and established Latino writers and performers, the LCP turns mainstream culture upside down in all-original sketch comedy productions that hilariously recreates the world in the Latino image.
