Katelyn Knox, assistant professor of French, was recently interviewed about her latest book, Race on Display in 20th- and 21st-Century France for the New Books Network Podcast.
Her book looks at children’s comics, literature, fashion, music and dance to turn the tables on discussions of “internal otherness” in contemporary France. She challenges her reader not to spot those deemed France’s “others” but rather to examine the gazes that produce these ideas.
Knox teaches all levels of French as well as advanced courses focused on literature, music and cultural identities in the contemporary French-speaking world.
