Internationally renowned physical theatre performer Joan Schirle, co-artistic director of the Dell?Arte Company, will present a new solo performance, ?Second Skin,? at Center Stage Theatre in the Snow Fine Arts Center on the UCA campus at 7:30 p.m. on April 13. Admission is free and the performance is open to the public.
For more than 20 years, Schirle has intrigued and entertained audiences all around the world. Her work with the Dell?Arte Company has won acclaim at festivals in Europe, Canada and South America, as well as at theaters throughout the U.S.
In ?Second Skin,? Schirle?s virtuoso transformations shine through the world of theatrical masks, allowing the characters themselves to create a spirited world of obsession, desire and luminosity.
With humor, movement, music and a group of half and full masks, her stories of wildly disparate characters coalesce around the threshold of the afterlife, as Schirle weaves multiple character portraits into an all-souls journey. ?Second Skin? offers a rare evening of passion and humor with this uniquely gifted performer.
While on the UCA campus, Schirle will also conduct workshops with theatre students as part of UCA?s Artists in Residence program. ?Second Skin? is sponsored by UCA?s Department of Theatre and the College of Fine Arts and Communication.
