The University of Central Arkansas Art Department will host internationally-known photographer Kate Breakey as a visiting artist on Tuesday, Feb. 15.
Breakey will be giving a presentation on Tuesday at 7p.m. in McClastalin Hall Room 143. She will also give an informal talk on Wednesday, Feb. 16 at 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. in Baum Gallery, also located in McClastalin Hall. All presentations are free and open to the public.
Breaky is an internationally-recognized photographer who is known for her large-scale, richly hand-colored photographs. Since 1980, her work has appeared in over forty-five solo exhibitions and in over thirty group exhibitions in the United States, Australia, New Zealand, Japan and France. She is collected in both public and private collections.
Breakey is a native of South Australia and moved to Austin, Texas. She has a Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Texas at Austin and has also taught photography in the Department of Art and Art History at the University of Texas. Currently, she lives in Tucson, Ariz. She has two books published since 1991. Breakey was recently awarded the title of ?Photographer of the Year? by the Houston Center for Photography.
