The University of Central Arkansas today announced the appointment of the dean of the College of Health and Behavioral Sciences.
Dr. Jimmy H. Ishee has been appointed as the dean effective July 1, 2014.
“I am pleased that our largest college will be led by a dean as capable as Dr. Ishee. His years of experience both as an administrator and in health care education will serve our university well,” said Dr. Steven Runge, provost and vice president for academic affairs.
Ishee currently serves at Texas Woman’s University (TWU) as dean of the College of Health Sciences. He has held this position since August 2005, and as dean, he has overseen the academic programs in Dental Hygiene, Communication Sciences and Disorders, Health Studies, Health Care Administration, Kinesiology, Nutrition and Food Science, Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy. At TWU, Dr. Ishee was involved in the development of clinical doctorates in Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy.
The UCA College of Health and Behavioral Sciences encompasses the departments of Communication Sciences and Disorders, Family and Consumer Sciences, Health Sciences, Kinesiology and Physical Education, Military Science and Leadership, Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Psychology and Counseling, as well as the Health Promotion and Wellness Residential College at Baridon Hall.
Prior to TWU, Ishee served as dean of the School of Health Science at Georgia College & State University in Milledgeville, Georgia.
He earned his Ph.D. from Florida State University and his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in health, physical education and recreation from Delta State University in Cleveland, Miss.
