Norma Farthing, Undergraduate Studies, received a $7,511 Perkins Grant to employ a part-time academic advisor to promote the associate of applied science in business degree.
The grant is funded by the U.S. Department of Education through the Arkansas Department of Higher Education and Southern Arkansas University.
According to Farthing ?The Associate of Applied Science in Business degree will be marketed to students as an expeditious route to graduation and employment. Through academic advising, students will be encouraged to pursue and complete the degree.?
Farthing expects that UCA will experience higher graduation rates, and students will complete their business training in two years thus becoming employable more quickly. She also believes the state and community will benefit from an increased workforce of expertly trained and highly skilled individuals.
The project was initially directed by Farthing, but is currently being directed by Dr. Pat Cantrell, dean of the College of Business Administration.
