Eleven young women will compete for the title of Miss University of Central Arkansas 2011 on Friday, Nov. 12, in Reynolds Performance Hall on the UCA campus.
The winner will receive a $6,000 scholarship to UCA and over $4,000 in prizes. Scholarships totaling $2,550 will be given to other winners during the pageant. Each contestant competes in the areas Presentation and Community Achievement in Private Interview, Artistic Expression in Talent, Lifestyle and Fitness in Swimsuit, Presence and Poise in Evening Wear, and On-stage Question.
The 2011 Miss University of Central Arkansas contestants include:
Amber Brewer, 20, sophomore Business Administration major from Mena, will perform a lyrical dance. She is sponsored by Delta Zeta Sorority and is a daughter of Marvin and Lisa Brewer.
Shirley Carr, 21, senior Business Administration major from Russellville, will perform a tap dance. Her sponsor is Alpha Sigma Tau Sorority and her parents are Eule and Lucy Carr.
Megan Daniels, 21, senior kinesiology major from El Dorado, will perform a lyrical dance. She is sponsored by Kappa Sigma Fraternity and is a daughter of Marlin and Connie Daniels.
Alicia Haflich, 22, senior Health Care Administration major from Mountain Home, will perform a tap dance. Her sponsor is Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity and her parents are Tim and Lalita Haflich.
Abigail Halley, 19, sophomore Psychology major from Winslow, will perform a jazz dance. She is sponsored by Sigma Kappa Sorority and is a daughter of Matt and Vickey Halley.
Alexandra Hubnik, 22, senior Occupational Therapy major from Texarkana, Arkansas, will perform dramatic sign language. She is sponsored by the Student Occupational Therapy Association and her parents are Robert and Carlyn Hubnik.
Jordan Huntze, 21, junior Political Science major from Texarkana, Texas, will perform a Broadway style dance. She is sponsored by Alpha Sigma Alpha sorority and her parents are Rick and Lisa Huntze.
Lauren Ragland, 20, junior Occupational Therapy major from Stuttgart, will perform a tap dance. She is sponsored by Alpha Sigma Tau sorority and is a daughter of Mark and Sandie Ragland.
Chelsea Vaughn, 19, sophomore Nursing major from Russellville, will be singing for her talent. She is sponsored by her parents, Jamie and Kelly Vaughn, and the UCA Resident Housing Association.
Rosemary Wright, 20, junior Pre-Physical Therapy major from Conway, will perform a lyrical dance. She is sponsored by Sonshine Academy and Watson Homes and her parents are Scott and Elsie Rose Wright.
Charae Martin, 20, a junior English Education major, from Huntsville will be singing for her talent. She is sponsored by J & J Auto. She is a daughter of Danny Martin and Tonya Davidson.
Kerry Hawkins, Miss UCA 2010, will perform as well as co-host the pageant with Doug Patchell. Alyse Eady, Miss Arkansas 2010, the Alpha Sigma Alpha Phoenix Dancers, and the Miss UCA Court of honor featuring Miss UCA Kerry Hawkins, Cassandra Hernandez, Larissa Nesbitt, Evan Nesbitt, Travis Mosler and Daniel Wingfield will provide entertainment during the pageant. The UCA Jazz Band, under the direction of Jackie Lamar, will provide musical entertainment before the pageant and during intermission.
Tickets go on sale at 6 p.m. the day of the pageant and are $5 for UCA students, staff and faculty with an ID, $5 for children 12 and under, and $10 for the general public. General admission seating will begin at 7 p.m. and the pageant will begin at 7:30 p.m. Miss UCA Program books will be available for $5.
