University of Central Arkansas faculty member Terry James recently discovered his doppelgänger was closer than expected.

“We were leaving a meeting and Provost Runge asked if I noticed the resemblance,” said James.

Doppelgänger is a German word meaning “look alike” or “alter ego”.

For James, his doppelgänger turned out to be UCA’s first president. After further inspection, James agreed there was a resemblance and posed next to an image of President Doyne that hangs in Wingo Hall.

President Doyne was officially hired on July 1, 1908 and served as university president of Arkansas State Normal School until 1917.

Dr. James serves as chair of the Department of Leadership Studies. The department is home to an educational specialist program in Educational Leadership and five master’s programs.
