Update regarding COVID-19 from President Houston Davis to students, faculty, and staff
We are a couple of days away from the Thanksgiving holiday, and we know you are all excited to visit with your families, binge-watch your favorite TV shows, catch some holiday sales, and eat some tasty home-cooked meals. As you make these preparations, we wanted to share some exciting campus news.
The Arkansas Department of Health and the Arkansas Department of Higher Education recently conducted a data analysis among Arkansas colleges and universities to determine vaccination rates for fall 2021 among students and employees. We have verified that UCA leads all peer universities and colleges in the state in vaccination rates for fully vaccinated students and employees. The analysis showed that 59% of UCA students are fully vaccinated, and 67% have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. For employees, 75% are fully vaccinated, and 83% have received at least one dose of a vaccine.
This is a very proud moment for our campus and a testament to the work of Dr. Randy Pastor, UCA medical director, and the Student Health Clinic team. These individuals have worked diligently to provide easy and free access to the Pfizer vaccine through special clinics and drop-in appointments. This is also a testament to the commitment of our Pandemic Planning and Response Team, our community partners in our pandemic consortium, and each of you as we continue to work cooperatively for the health and well-being of our community.
Thank you for your continued dedication to our university. Have a great Thanksgiving!
