Jeremy Crosmer, 16, tied for first place in the string division and was awarded the overall grand prize in the Stella Boyle Smith Young Artists Competition held Saturday, March 6, at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.
He received $500 for the grand prize award, $350 for the string division award, and will perform
with the ASO on a future concert.
Crosmer studies cello with Dr. Stephen Feldman through the UCA Community School of Music and with Daniel Cline at Hendrix, where he is a student. He has also studied piano, fiddle and composition through the CSM. He is the son of Paul and Janet Crosmer.
Kacie Blankenship placed third in her division of High School Women at the State National Association of Teachers of Singing Convention and Student Auditions, which were recently held at the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville.
Blankenship studies voice with Dr. Martha Antolik through the CSM and is a former student of Lynnette Stanley. She also takes piano lessons with Director of Accompanying Chiharu Linuma, and trumpet lessons with UCA music major Megan Heikkila.
Kacie is the 15-year-old daughter of Bob and Catherine Blankenship of Conway. Her sister Katie is a music major at UCA.
