Hundreds of veterans, soldiers, military families, and Faulkner County residents gathered at Estes Stadium on Nov. 11 to honor veterans.
The University of Central Arkansas and the City of Conway hosted the annual Veterans Day Celebration, which featured live music, aircraft and military displays, games and a special ceremony.
Maj. Gen. Ron Chastain, deputy commanding general for the Army National Guard at the United States Forces Command, was the keynote speaker. Chastain is the former adjutant general of Arkansas. During the ceremony, 112 balloons were released in honor of each Arkansan killed in service since Sept. 11, 2001.
Since 1996, the university has acknowledged the contributions of service men and women.
