In the Magdalen Islands, where the company sometimes works, flashes of heat lightning seen on the horizon are called ?loize. An inspiration for the troupe’s seven founding members, this lightning symbolizes the heat and energy that feed the troupe’s spirit. In the last decade, the French-speaking Canadian company has staged more than 3,000 shows in 20 countries worldwide. The artistic sensibility, originality, and virtuosity of the performers have wowed over three million spectators to date.
In a recent announcement, RAIN director Daniele Finze Pasca, who also directs for Cirque du Soleil, has been named to direct the closing ceremonies of the Winter Olympics in Torino, Italy. Several of the Cirque Eloize company will be working with Pasca in Torino.
