University of Central Arkansas Director of Athletics, Dr. Brad Teague, was recently selected by the Conway Corporation Board of Directors to serve a seven-year term, which began on May 8, 2015.
“It’s an honor to serve Conway Corporation, which has contributed greatly to our community since the 1920s,” Teague said. “It is a large reason why Conway has thrived over time.”
Conway Corporation was created during an economic crisis in 1929 with the purpose of giving financial help to Conway colleges. Conway Corporation has, at its foundation, the support of higher education in the Conway community.
During Teague’s time at UCA, the athletic department has also thrived and has since undergone the most remarkable growth in the 100-plus year history of the program. The school has flourished into a credible, successful NCAA Division I institution following its transition from Division II. The Purple Circle Foundation, UCA’s private fundraising arm for athletics, has seen tremendous growth under Teague. It more than tripled in donations during his first year and has grown another 60 percent since then.
Teague earned a bachelor’s and master’s degree from Delta State University and a doctorate in leadership from the University of Mississippi. He served on the Southland Advisory Council as compliance committee chair from 2010-2012, as vice president from 2010-2012, and then as president from 2012-2015. Teague is also a member of the Conway Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors.
Teague replaces Bill Adkisson, whose term ended May 8, 2015.
