All prospective students and their families are invited to Bear Facts Day, the University of Central Arkansas’ annual preview event, on Friday, Dec. 3.
The massive and immersive overview is a chance for prospective students, including high school seniors and transfer students, to sample sessions on UCA’s academic programs, learn how to get involved, and explore the campus.
“We try to provide a full experience at Bear Facts Day so students know who we are and, more importantly, they know whether we’re the place for them,” said Courtney Bryant, director of Admissions. “We make a commitment to see every student who attends UCA through graduation and hope Bear Facts Day is just a part of their journey.”
In the day’s first session, students and their families will have the opportunity to meet with faculty from the academic college that interests them the most.
Much of the day allows students to create a custom itinerary from a menu of options. This flexibility gives students and their families the freedom to visit with campus services and answer any questions about UCA.
“Students have a lot of choices out there so it’s important they take the time to get to know their potential future home before making a decision on where they will attend,” Bryant said.
Additional sessions showcase campus resources and student organizations: everything from financial aid, to transfer services, to the Honors College and the University Scholars program.
Campus tours will be offered throughout the day, including close looks at student housing.
There will be a scholarship drawing at the Bear Fair, a gathering of registered student organizations, fraternities and sororities, and campus departments. In order to win, individuals must be a
high school senior.
Bear Facts Day is scheduled to begin with check-in, 9:30 a.m., at the UCA Welcome Center followed by the opening academic session at 10 a.m. Advance registration for the event is required to ensure space is available, which can be done online.
