The UCA Baum Gallery of Fine Arts will host an opening reception for the spring season of exhibitions from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 20, in the Fireplace Room of McCastlain Hall. The reception is free and open to the public. The exhibit, titled ?Idea to Image,? will help viewers connect original works of art with individual artists in light of how the works are conceived of and created.
Featuring artworks in all media from eight significant Arkansas artists, the exhibit topic is enriched with the artists? first-person views on the creative process, statements about their individual ways of working, and an exhibited item from their studio environment that carries meaning for them and is related to their content or current aesthetic.
The exhibit is designed to encourage conversations about the breadth and diversity of artistic methods and the cyclical nature of selecting, crafting, and transforming visual images into original works of art.
Participating artists include: George Chambers, Warren Criswell, Nancy Dunaway, Brenda Keech Cathy Siri Nugent, Dominique Simmons, AJ Smith, and Michael Warrick.
The exhibit will be available for viewing until Feb. 24.
