BALDWIN AUTHORS OPEN EDUCATIONAL RESOURCE BOOK

Amy Baldwin

Amy Baldwin, director of the University of Central Arkansas Department of Student Transitions, served as senior contributing author of a recently released book through OpenStax, an Open Educational Resource company.

The book, “College Success,” is a comprehensive and contemporary resource that serves first-year experience, student success and college transition courses, as well as any students who want to study time management, note-taking, financial literacy, career planning and other important college skills independently.

“What excites me about working on a college student textbook again is that all the books published through OpenStax are free to students. They can access them at any time and on any device,” Baldwin said. “Adopting this text for our Journeys to Success course means that our students are getting high-quality content for no cost. Students can put that money toward other needs.”

Baldwin is also the co-author of four college success textbooks published by Pearson. This is her newest textbook in five years.

Developed with the support of hundreds of faculty and coordinators, “College Success” addresses the evolving challenges and opportunities of today’s diverse students. Engagement, self-analysis, personal responsibility and student support are reflected throughout the material.

The book also includes an array of student surveys and opinion polls, and OpenStax will regularly provide the results to adopting faculty.  It comes with lecture slides, an instructor resource manual, a test bank and other resources.
