Arkansas Shakespeare Theatre to Hold Children’s Auditions
Arkansas Shakespeare Theatre (AST) will hold auditions for the Children’s Choir, which appears in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, on Saturday, May 14 in the Bridges/Larson Theatre of the Snow Fine Arts Center on the campus of UCA, 201 Donaghey in Conway.
There are 20-25 roles available for children age 8-16 who must be able to sing. (There are no speaking or non-singing roles available.) Children interested in auditioning do not need to prepare a song. Auditions will consist of singing something familiar to demonstrate vocal quality and range. Then the group will learn part of a song from the musical to sing together.
There are two audition times scheduled that children may choose to attend. The first one is at 9:30 am and should be over by 11:30 am. The second audition time is at noon and should be over by 2:00 pm. Please arrive promptly at the beginning of either audition time slot and plan to stay until dismissed. Latecomers will not be allowed to audition. Parents are encouraged to attend and all questions will be answered prior to the audition process.
Children who are cast must be able to attend each rehearsal and performance. There will be no exceptions. The rehearsal schedule includes May 16-20 and May 23-27 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. May 21 and May 28 from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm, and May 31 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Beginning June 1, rehearsals will be held at various times including mornings, afternoons, and evenings. Those cast will be informed of the schedule in plenty of time to make arrangements.
Performances are June 23, 24 and 25 at 7:30 pm and July 1 and 2 at 2:00 pm.
